The Antidote
My mom wrote me an email last night and said they ate supper outside. I can't eat supper outside unless I just pour syrup on the snow and start eating it. Warm weather sure would be nice. So would a little more money and a little less debt. Or how about a change in relationship status. Or maybe just not having to clean up after my brother's dog got sick from eating out of the garbage last night.
And then I catch myself. Yep, right now. I stop and think.
I live in Yosemite National Park. I get to go snow-skiing almost every week--for free. I don't have to pay for my rent or food--and I have enough to pay my bills. God has blessed me with a pretty unpredictable, somewhat exciting life, and life-long friends. God loves me--and shows me a thousand ways a day that He does if my eyes are open to it. I get to live next door to my brother and sister-in-law for awhile, which is awesome. Spring is coming.
Gratitude. The antidote for an inaccurate view of reality.

Spring IS coming. Winter will come again too but there is always spring to look forward to.
