Texas Roots: Cold Front

It's been a lovely day, although the cold front has moved in. At least we are not getting snow like other parts of Texas. It's just in the 50s and 60s with some crazy wind.

The day's summary:
- Found the spot where the old hospital once was where I was born. We even found the approximate site of birth where a shrub was growing tall.

- Explored a little bit of the Santa Anna wildlife refuge, which is where I lost a bet with my dad that I wouldn't need to wear a coat all day. Saw a few birds and lots of Spanish moss.

- Got a close-up view of the border fence but resisted the temptation to drive into Mexico.

- Ate at Arturo's--a Mexican restaurant that used to be in a town across the border but they moved to the U.S.

- Drive to South Padre Island where we are enjoying an excellent view of the ocean and beach, but haven't explored it yet because it's a little too windy and cold.

That tree is approximately where I was born :)
