Here I Am
I had a busy birthday, but it ended in a very special way, sharing about Yap at the Tappahannock SDA Church, and spending a little time with the Wolcotts, who are such a blessing to me. It was good to remember Kirsten, the inspiring college girl who was in Yap before me, and the way her life has touched so many people, including mine, and inspired us to keep serving, keep loving, keep living for Jesus. I've imagined many times what that day will be like in heaven, reconnecting with Kirsten and all of our students--who I pray for every day. A song came on the radio on my way back to D.C. this morning that just painted the picture so clearly for me--the way Jesus connects His followers togetherr. He calls each of us and writes us into His story. And we are part of a long legacy of believers of all kinds and all ages. Someday we will be able to see how it all--how we all--perfectly fit together in His story. All we can do is say "Here I am, send me" and we find
ourselves involved in an epic drama bigger than we can comprehend right
now. But someday, we will. Someday...
"Here I Am" by Downhere
Sometimes Your calling, comes in dreams
Sometimes it comes in the Spirit's breeze, yea
You reach for the deepest hope in me
And call out for the things of eternity
But I'm a man, of dust and stains
You're moving me, so I can say
Here I am, Lord send me
All of my life, I make an offering
Here I am, Lord send me
Somehow my story is a part of your plan
Here I am
Set backs and failures, and upset plans
Test my faith and leave me with empty hands
Are You not the closest, when it's hardest to stand?
I know that You will finish what You began
And these broken parts, You redeemed
Become the song, that I can sing
Overwhelmed by the thought of my weakness
And the fear that I'll fail You, in the end
Oh, in this mess, I'm just one of the pieces
I can't put this together, but You can
Here I am, Lord send me I wanna live my life as an offering
Here I am, Lord send me
Somehow my story, is part of Your plan
So here I am
