Some Keele History

Mrs. May Keele is the lady in the back on the far right.
Today I went through an ancestry.com phase.  Don't worry, I already cancelled my free trial membership, but not before I figured out some interesting things about my Keele family heritage.  Actually, it started with my great-grandma's cookbook.  It was created to celebrate the 120-year history of the Leach Seventh-day Adventist church (in West Tennessee).  In the front is a brief history of the church, with some key figures.  I noticed two Keeles in the story, and wanted to find out if they were related.  Sure enough, they turned out to be my great-great-great grandparents.  William J. Keele was asked to help "build up the work" at the Adventist church in Leach, Tennessee, at a camp meeting in the summer of 1903.  Later, in the 1930s, William's wife, May Keele, taught at the little Leach SDA School.

Another thing I realized in my research...I think I am a seventh-generation Adventist.

  2. Wow, that's really cool! I might have to try doing this, although since my family isn't originally from the U.S IDK if the website will actually have anything on them...
