Quick Update from Yap
I've been waiting to blog until I have time to write some epic, tear-jerking, thought-provoking essay. But I am realizing that I don't have time right now, so a little will have to do for now.
Highlights from the last week and a few days:
-Orientation in Hawaii was nice, but Honolulu is, well, a city. Hiking up Diamond Head at Sunrise was nice though, as well as meeting the three girl SMs--all education majors and awesome!
-After Orientation, I stayed for a couple days because there are only two flights to Yap from Guam, and Orientation made us miss the first one (not accidental, our itineraries had that in them). Most of them stayed in Guam, but me and one other girl stayed in Hawaii, and Linda Biswas and her sister treated us to some amazing Hawaiian adventures, including the Polynesian Cultural Center.
-Coming into Yap was amazing. So weird to be back in some ways. The smells, the sounds...so funny how they are familiar. But it made me miss the old SMs. Still, the new ones are great! Also have seen a few former students--which has been really cool! Everyone has been excited to have me here--makes me feel famous. :)
-Today I got my Yap drivers license and drove all over the place helping Accountant Lorraine get everything done on her to-do list. Almost everything anyway.
-That's all I have time for now...sorry! Will write more later, I promise.
Thanks so much for your prayers for our school...looks like we might start late, but that's ok, we also are getting some teachers, so that's nice. Still could use a few more though, since some are just temporary. God is good though, and I know He is leading. Blessings to you all!
