Hand-Writing

In college and grad school, I often used what I referred to as my "Palm-Pilot." I would write on the palm of my hand key words of things I needed to remember: emails to send, books to return, times to meet people. I didn't trust myself to remember to look at my planner for these urgent details, but my hand? I could never lose it. It was always there to see, as long as I didn't wash it too often. I think I even used this special technique this week, when I was trying to remember to get my phone service switched and call my student loan companies.

A few minutes ago I was reading over some of my favorite verses in Isaiah and found this one:

"...I would not forget you! See, I have written your name on My hand." (Isaiah 49:15,16)

I can hear God telling me, "Look, Andrea. I'm writing your name on my hand. There's no way I'm going to forget about you. I know exactly where you are, exactly what you're feeling, and exactly why I have you there."

My name is on His hand, so I know Jesus will not forget me. It's not written in ink that will fade away; it's in scars that will last forever.

Jesus, please help me to remember you too. Write Your name on my heart and my hand.

  1. Excellent, Andrea! Indeed your name is on His hand AND in His heart as much as it is in my heart. I'm glad you can find comfort in that. I love you much...but God loves you more.

PS. I like your picture too...but I know that's not YOUR hand. The wrist is too hairy.
