The Light Wins
I've found myself reflecting lately on a windy evening I experienced out at our Rosario Beach campus near Anacortes, Washington. As I watched the sun setting over the Salish Sea, I noticed a big cloud drifting right in front of the sun, casting a shadow across the water. And yet, farther out on the horizon, the light still sparkled on the sea.
The wind was strong—whipping up waves, whistling through pine trees, pressing me deeper into the bench where I sat. But that same wind was also slowly pushing the cloud along. Little by little, the sunlight reflection on the water drew closer, until eventually the cloud fully surrendered to the sun and I, too, was enveloped in its warmth and glory.
Easter tells the story of the greatest force in the universe—Love—overcoming darkness. The winds may blow, and the shadows may deepen around us at times, but Jesus, the Light, is still near. And one day, as children of the Light, we will fully step into His healing, radiant embrace. And it will all be ok.
He is risen. He is risen indeed.
