Flexibility (for lack of a better title)

One of the things I like the most and the least about following God is that life is pretty much unpredictable. You can make your plans, but God directs your steps, as one Bible verse puts it. The story of my life, is how I put it. Sometimes I love that and sometimes it is frustrating. Usually it is both, but at the end of the day, I really love it.

When we came to Palau, we thought we were doing summer camp for three weeks. It turns out we had a week of preparation (and recreation ☺), a week of Vacation Bible School in a state called Ngarchelong (or something like that), and perhaps this week, we will have summer camp for ages 8-15. If not, we’ll have to come up with another plan B. I love that. I never could have planned it, but God is good at surprising us with His plans for where we need to be.

Vacation Bible School was a lot of fun this week. We had around 12-15 kids each day, and the program was made up of songs, sharing a personal “God experience,” a Bible story, and a craft. There are two missionaries working in that area that got everything together and helped us know what to do, and even found a great place to meet. All we had to do was come in and fall in love with the kids. And that was pretty easy to do.

I guess the key is to follow God one day, one step, at a time, and trust that He will be just as faithful today as He was yesterday. I’ll read this blog again tomorrow as we begin this week’s adventure. Definitely a repetitive lesson.

  1. I'm super happy about God not going with my plans. . . however I would like to know better the plans He does have.
