International National Parks

I explored a little of Yosemite National Park today, and drove through the Yosemite Valley. El Capitan, Half Dome, Bridalveil Falls--yeah, all that. It's just as beautiful as the postcards, except that I happened to drive through on a Sunday, and this weekend happened to be free...which all meant lots of traffic. The few times I did get out of the car to try to experience a little of paradise first-hand, I found myself distracted by the throngs. Yet, also fascinated. So many languages, and cultural clothes. Families, older retired couples, young hikers, low-rider cruising cars, SUVs, motorcycles, RVs...diversity.
As long as there have to be lots of people around, the internationality of the national parks is quite beautiful.

yeah it's a bit hard to enjoy the beauty of yosemite with 8 million other people. but imagine yourself there all year round and there would be lots of times you could go explore with only 6 million people there. plus there's the whole northern part of the park that still hasn't even been looked at yet! I'm glad you are enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteI sort of expected Yosemite to be filled with young, athletic, outdoorsy types. But it's not.
ReplyDeleteHope you can do a bit of exploring and ditch the crowds!
