International National Parks

I explored a little of Yosemite National Park today, and drove through the Yosemite Valley. El Capitan, Half Dome, Bridalveil Falls--yeah, all that. It's just as beautiful as the postcards, except that I happened to drive through on a Sunday, and this weekend happened to be free...which all meant lots of traffic. The few times I did get out of the car to try to experience a little of paradise first-hand, I found myself distracted by the throngs. Yet, also fascinated. So many languages, and cultural clothes. Families, older retired couples, young hikers, low-rider cruising cars, SUVs, motorcycles, RVs...diversity.

As long as there have to be lots of people around, the internationality of the national parks is quite beautiful.

  1. yeah it's a bit hard to enjoy the beauty of yosemite with 8 million other people. but imagine yourself there all year round and there would be lots of times you could go explore with only 6 million people there. plus there's the whole northern part of the park that still hasn't even been looked at yet! I'm glad you are enjoying it.

  2. I sort of expected Yosemite to be filled with young, athletic, outdoorsy types. But it's not.

Hope you can do a bit of exploring and ditch the crowds!
